Filming in the Soda Shop

This past Friday, we got to actually film in the Soda Shop while they were working. After we ate lunch there, part of our group headed over to the Library to start editing what we already had, and the other part stayed at the Soda Shop to continue filming. We had our cameras on tri-pods that we moved around the soda shop to capture what we wanted for our documentary. We knew we wanted to film them making a milkshake, so we stood behind the counter with the tri-pod to film the different steps. While we were doing this, we found it was hard to move around with a tri-pod in the small aisle behind the counter, especially since it was starting to get busy. Several times we had to move around people and try to get out of their way after filming. It was really interesting to see how busy it got as we tried to get what we needed on tape. After we were done filming, we switched with our other group and went back to the library to edit. I really like this practicum so far and can't wait to finish the documentary!

Behind the scene

When you think of a film all you think about is the people being recorded. When there is a lot more to it and that would be editing. Editing is a hard job and takes awhile to get a finishing product. That would be my job for the in seek of the truth practicum. What I do is get a computer, upload the film from a camera on the computer, then take out the unwanted parts of the film and make it flow. We haven't done it that much so far but we have a plan to divide the jobs to your interests to get the job done more efficient and better. It is very fun and I hope to do more work on it.

In search of the truth documentary- "The Community Hub"

This practicum is alot of fun! at the beginning of this practicum we had to come up with different ideas of what to make a documentary about. we then eliminated all of them to one subject. The Soda Shop! for the past couple of weeks we have been filming the action of the soda shop and interviewing different people that are apart of the history and the daily life of the davidson soda shop. during the filming process we have all learned that putting together a documentary is not easy! we have learned alot about editing and filming and in the process we have learned that the soda shop isnt just a cool place to eat, its also a historical place.
